XuanGuang Featured Products「Tian Yin」
Originating from the brilliance of the heavens, the divine sound of Tianlai.
Designed and crafted over 8 years.
Following the success of "Jin Shi. Tian Zhu", creating another exquisite and collectible guzheng called "Tian Yin".
As the creator of nature, Xuan Guang looks up and down with gratitude for the wonders of the Creator. The "Tian Yin" body is made of extremely rare Japanese cold-bonded paulownia wood, which is over 60 years old. This wood is extremely rare and was found by the Xuan Guang production team in the vast mountains.
Every skilled artisan believes that every material in nature is imbued with life and soul. Before extracting the wood to create exquisite masterpieces, the team performs a ritual to show gratitude and respect to the deity of paulownia wood. After the ritual, a sake pouring ceremony is conducted. In the mountains, each tree is not only an individual but also a part of the forest community, experiencing life and death together for decades or even centuries.
"Tian Yin" is a guzheng with a soundboard crafted from the extremely rare Japanese Kojiro paulownia wood. Due to its advanced age, the wood has formed intricate patterns of knots and scars, making it the first guzheng with a tree burl penetrating the entire body. After extensive research and design, this unique guzheng took 8 years to create, resulting in a priceless work of art.
With a groundbreaking body design that challenges the traditional definition of the guzheng, the entire body adopts a streamlined design, presenting a more elegant and lightweight feel. From "Tiantu" to "Jinjiang.Tianzhu" and then to "Yunpu," the Xuanguang team further enhances the internal structure of the body. With unique and rare materials combined with custom-designed and crafted techniques, once again, the hall-level guzheng artwork is presented to everyone.
As a horizontal playing instrument, the importance of the design of the front of the guzheng is often overlooked. "Xuan Guang" brings a new definition to the front of the guzheng, with a streamlined design and precious Indian small leaf rosewood construction, offering a reinterpretation of the form of the guzheng.
Headstock Design
With a brand new, unique headstock patent design, the precise angles are calculated using curved guzheng feet. While exuding a sense of modern fashion, the instrument remains steadfast and secure during performances.
The guzheng lid retains the unique suspended and lift-off design, making new improvements to the original design. The angle of the guzheng lid suspension has been increased, resulting in significant advancements in the sound and usability of the guzheng.
The Golden Lacquer Collection
For the first time, Japanese 24K gold lacquer and raw lacquer are used, combined with specially selected aged Indian red sandalwood. This creates a highly contemporary generation of guzheng art, complemented by its innovative body design, a masterpiece that combines tradition with modernity.
Mounting Technique
The Mountain is made of whole Indian red sandalwood, and craftsmen carefully adjust its curvature to fit into the mortise and tenon joint. The unique inclination design effectively enhances sound conduction and resonance, further elevating the sound quality of the guzheng.
The headstock box incorporates the traditional Japanese Hakone marquetry technique, using all-natural wood to create geometric patterns. The wood is then cut into "seeds" and embedded into the box of the headstock. Hakone marquetry has been passed down in the Hakone region since the Edo period and was designated as a traditional Japanese woodworking craft by the Japanese authorities in 1984. Unfortunately, the number of people who possess this skill has been decreasing, making each piece that utilizes Hakone marquetry technique even more precious.
XuanGuang Bridge III (Old Material Red Acid Branch)
The XuanGuang bridge is made of old material big red acid branch, and the zither maker crafts it by hand according to the body of the instrument. The zither made of old material big red acid branch is carefully crafted by hand, following the wood grain to create each piece, greatly improving the stability and uniformity of the zither, making the sound smooth and progressing layer by layer. The zither of Glowing Pillar is highly durable and does not easily wear out during repeated playing, enhancing the stability of the sound and preventing misalignment while playing. Such meticulous selection and intricate production process mean that the production cost of Glowing Pillar zither is several times higher than that of ordinary zithers, but in order to elevate the sound of the zither, we spare no expense.
combines a unique design, premium wood materials, and exquisite craftsmanship to perfectly blend with the body of the instrument. It features a distinctive arched design exclusive to Koto Wei, showcasing the sound in perfection. A piece of unparalleled contemporary art presented on the surface of the guzheng.
Made of 18K yellow gold, durable and not easily faded.
The craftsmanship of the three-layer triangle carving takes twice as long as the double-layer triangle carving due to the high angles and precision required. A slight mistake might result in starting the whole instrument from scratch. It is important to note that the internal body of the instrument is not flat but curved. In this case, dealing with triangle carving not only needs to consider the curvature of the body, but also the transmission of sound when playing. With the three-layer carving, the contact area between the internal body and the air increases, creating a more layered and captivating sound. The lingering sound is more impactful and captivating compared to other structures of the guzheng.
The soundhole of the soundboard is also bordered with rosewood, giving a more rounded and solid tone, preventing it from sounding disordered or scattered.
